Revive This Nation – Day 5 Wednesday
Well here we are, our last full day in Sutton, WV.
Today we were busy all day. Kristen left his morning to help at a luncheon for the Grandma and Grandpa program of Sutton, were they set up mentoring relationships with the senior citizens of the community and the youth of Sutton.
Shortly after, I went out visiting with Bill the Deacon. We had a few successful visits and then he showed me the dam at the edge of Sutton. It was pretty awesome. They are letting water out now to prepare for the summer months and that thing moves a lot of water. It was great because one of the illustrations I used in my sermon tonight was about a dam.
Tonight at the church went very well. Kristen sang “Because He Lives”, we had special music from one of the ladies of the church and my sermon was on Luke 15 – The Prodigal Son. We had several people show up that were not there on the other nights of the week and God was moving in a mighty way in the people’s hearts. I really wish that we could see what God does with this church in the future. I know there are going to be changes and the community will be impacted.
This is going to be a lot harder leaving than I thought. It seems like only yesterday we were landing in Pittsburg ready to preach and share the Gospel. I guess time flies when you are having fun. We have met many people that we now consider family, shared the Gospel with many, sang some songs/hymns and preached my five sermons. We saw how God moved in the hearts of the people of the church and we are so blessed to have had this opportunity.
There is so much more that I could write about but I think it would be better to have a face to face conversation. If you would like to hear more, let me know and we can get coffee sometime.
