Have you ever asked yourself the question, How Will The Resurrection Happen?

This teaching covers 1Corinthians 15, the third instruction on how the resurrection applies to believers.

Let’s dive into the Lord’s word concerning what it means to have faith in the resurrection.

1 Corinthians 15:20–28

20 But as it is, Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also comes through a man.

22 For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.

Why Did The Resurrection Happen?

1) Because We Need The Resurrection

since death came through a man = Because all men are given over to a sin nature.

For just as in Adam all die = Because all men sin and sin leads to death.

2) Because The Resurrection Reverses The Situation

the resurrection of the dead also comes through a man = Because through Christ we can have a new nature

so also in Christ all will be made alive = Because Christ through Christ we can have eternal life

3) Because Christ Is Our Assurance of The Resurrection

Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep

23 But each in his own order: Christ, the firstfruits; afterward, at his coming, those who belong to Christ.

24 Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when he abolishes all rule and all authority and power.

25 For he must reign until he puts all his enemies under his feet.

26 The last enemy to be abolished is death.

How Will The Resurrection Happen?

  • Christ, the firstfruits; afterward, at his coming, = Christ First

Matthew 28:1-10; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-12; John 1-29

  • those who belong to Christ. = Christ Followers

Matthew 24:29-44; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18; Revelation 14:6-13

  • Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when he abolishes all rule and all authority and power. = Christ’s Wrath

  • The last enemy to be abolished is death. = Christ’s Judgment

Revelation 20:11-21:27

27 For God has put everything under his feet. Now when it says “everything” is put under him, it is obvious that he who puts everything under him is the exception.

28 When everything is subject to Christ, then the Son himself will also be subject to the one who subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all.
